About Us
After several catastrophes hit our community of Monte Alto, Texas, and left hundreds of families in need, Monte Alto Recreation Center was founded in 2020 as a nonprofit organization. Our community is not an incorporated city with the typical city resources and services you would expect. We are considered a Colonia.
Our community needed help, and we knew we had to step up to meet needs as resources are very limited.
After seeing our community’s children trying to keep warm with an outdoor fire inside a metal tire rim and hearing from families with no utilities, MARC was established.
The poverty in our backyard was unbelievable so we had to do something to help adults become self-sufficient with the ability to support themselves and their families.
